What is Transitions Learning Center?

MRC is now offering a recovery school program called Transitions Learning Center (TLC). MRC has a long history of educating students within a substance abuse recovery setting and operates three CARF accredited, long-term substance abuse recovery programs. TLC’s mission is: To provide a safe environment for youth recovering from substance abuse while striving to meet their academic, social and emotional needs.

Who Attends TLC?
 

TLC is designed to help adolescents transitioning from a primary intervention program back into a full classroom setting. Primary intervention programs include not only formal acute behavior management treatment, but also intensive outpatient (IOP), residential institution, and day treatment levels of care. TLC only enrolls students with an identified substance abuse problem. We address educational needs while also continuing to address and monitor substance use.
TLC is not designed to admit students in need of primary treatment intervention. Primary intervention for substance abuse should be provided in an in-patient setting, in a residential treatment facility or in an acute behavior management treatment program or an outpatient basis before TLC will consider enrolling a student. Students with a chronic history of violence may not be eligible for admission.

Services Provided by TLC:
 

TLC students will receive the following services while attending:

• Individual, group and family counseling sessions
• Laptops provided for each student, with the latest

  academic software
• Outside tutors as needed
• Nutritious lunch and snack provided
• Convenient pick-up and drop-off times
