Congratulations to Dee Heflin for being nominated as October’s Making a Difference Employee! Dee was nominated by many of her peers due to her positive attitude, her willingness to help anyone in need, and her warm, welcoming smile. Dee greets everyone who comes through the doors of MRC with kindness. She stays on top of all her duties and truly lights up the office!
Q&A with Dee Heflin
A. Jim Butcher, he writes fantasy books.
Q. If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?
A. I would go back to the medieval time period where they had kings, queens, knights, and castles! I love those kinds of movies!
Q. What is your favorite family recipe?
A. Shrimp Fettucine: New Orleans style, we have it every Christmas.
Q. If money was no object, what would you do all day?
A. I would spend my days learning how to gourmet cook. I could go take classes and I would have all day to try and put new recipes together! I’m tired of cooking the same things all the time.
Q. What does it mean to you to be “making a difference”?
A. It makes me feel good to know that we are helping every person who comes through the doors of MRC. When they call us or come in for treatment, at least they can hear a friendly voice or see a smile! I love to see their reaction when we greet them with a smile.
“Smiling and Positivity”
Dee Heflin started working at MRC in 2003, and has been a friendly, welcoming face for all who enter our doors since then. She enjoys meeting new patients and watching how they change and progress over the course of treatment. Dee loves the positive atmosphere that exists in all three of MRC’s programs. “I love seeing employees come in with a smile ready to help our patients. Everyone works so well together and they do a great job with our patients. It’s wonderful to see!”
Dee was born and raised in Memphis where she is all about family. She returns home from MRC each day to her wonderful husband, David. Dee enjoys spending time with her two daughters and six grandchildren. She is very close with her five brothers and sisters, and they get together often.
In her spare time, Dee loves to crochet and do arts and crafts. Even in the midst of her busy schedule, she finds time to teach Awanas and Sunday School at church where she does arts and crafts with the children often. She also enjoys reading when she has the time. Dee wants to commend her fellow employees for being wonderful team players, “Everyone is so accepting and willing to help each other out. I love being a part of this team.”
